New Exam Launches June 2025
Based on a comprehensive job analysis completed in March 2025, the updated CHCP exam reflects the current realities of the field and aligns with the Educate the Educator curriculum. This new version ensures that certification holders are equipped to meet the ends of today’s complex healthcare education environment.

About the Exam
The CHCP exam has been redesigned to reflect the current state of the healthcare CPD profession, based on a national job analysis completed in March 2025. This updated version incorporates input from experience CPD professionals across diverse roles and settings, ensuring the exam reflects the real-work knowledge and skills needed for success in the field.
The revised exam blueprint is now aligned with the Educate the Educator curriculum and structured around ten essential domains that represent the breadth and depth of practice in healthcare continuing professional development. These domains reflect modern expectations for interprofessional practice, leadership, instructional design, and evaluation—all grounded in the National Learning Competencies (NLCs).
The CHCP exam is designed to:

Exam Format
The CHCP exam consists of 160 multiple-choice questions, each with four answer options. Of these, 150 questions are scored, while 10 are unscored pretest items used to evaluate future exam content. Candidates have three hours to complete the exam.
The CHCP exam is a closed-book assessment and is offered in two formats:
- In-person testing at over 400 Prometric testing centers across the United States and Canada
- Remote proctoring, allowing candidates to test from a secure, quiet location of their choice
Exams are available during four testing windows each year, providing candidates with flexibility in scheduling. The CHCP exam is administered by Prometric, a trusted provider of secure, professional testing services.
